Hidden Treasure

I never thought of Jesus as the school teacher type. I always considered him to be the traveling preacher. He would tour around winning big crowds to see him for special speaking engagements. Why stuff Jesus into one role? He is not one of those “Jack of all trades, master of none.” He really is master of all trades. He could and did do it all well, from the big speaking engagements (Matthew 5-7) down to the personal visitation (Mark 5:37ff).

In [Christ] are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. Colossians 2:3

All the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, everything, hidden inside the person of Christ! He is preacher and teacher. All wisdom and knowledge are found in him. What does that mean for me? I go to him for the riches of wisdom and knowledge that I need. Paul doesn’t say that they are hidden in him because Jesus wants to keep them for himself. He wants me to go to him. Jesus yearns for me to relationship with him so that he can share his wisdom and knowledge. I need only sit on his lap like a boy listening to dad’s story.
