Focus

Focus on what’s important. It’s so easy to be distracted by the stuff. One click and I am down another rabbit hole. Sometimes in conscious. I know what I am choosing and I have a few seconds of evaluation and decide to be distracted because it is much easier to give in than to fight it. Sometimes it is unconscious. I have no idea I am doing it until I amalready sucked in. Why did I do that? What happened? Where did that come from? Distractions are so prevalent and that makes it so hard to focus on what’s important.

What does that look like for my relationship with the Father? Far too often, I choose other things that hinder that relationship instead of help it. I notice it. I feel worse. I snap at the kids. I get frustrated easily. Why do I make poor choices?

Then I recall that God doesn’t make poor choices. He chooses me.

You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit, fruit that will endure, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (John 15:16)

There is an awesome connection to the Father though Jesus and he chose me. Jesus didn’t let the shiny and distractible avert his eyes from my heart. He chose me.

He chose me for a purpose. I am his tree and being watered and fertilized with his gracious promises, he makes the fruit in my life grow. He helps me choose what’s important, ways of service to benefit others around me.

He chose me with a promise. I can ask him for anything I need to fulfill every request and it will be provided.

God, help me rely on your choice, you picked me. Focus my heart on that and allow me to show it in my life. Amen
